Insights from an award-winning local government communicator
Tuesday 18 October at 2pm AEDT
As council communication professionals, many of us fly under the radar and don’t get the recognition our skills and efforts deserve - does that sound familiar?
I was so impressed to see that Nicole O’Neill from the City of Kalamunda in Western Australia is breaking that mould, and at the same time helping to build significant credibility for our profession.
Join the next webinar of the Local Government Communication Professionals Network, when Nicole will share her journey to being recognised as the Emerging Leader of the Year at the 2021 Local Government Professionals National Federation Awards.
As her Council’s Manager Customer and PR, Nicole – like many of you – has been instrumental in guiding her organisation’s communication and engagement through the turmoil of the last few years.
She’ll talk about what she’s learned from those experiences, what a national award has meant for her, and how you can also build a pathway to recognition in your Council, your region and beyond.
When: Tuesday 18 October, 2pm AEDT
About Nicole O'Neill
Nicole commenced her career in the not-for-profit sector working in Stakeholder engagement, commercial marketing and sales for the Department of Education. She has spent the last 15 years in local government at the City of Kalamunda, starting as Public Relations Officer in 2007 before becoming Manager, Customer and PR in 2017. Since then, she’s acted in various senior roles including Director Corporate Services and Director Development Services.
Nicole was named Emerging Leader of the Year at the prestigious National Federation Awards last year, after being named LG Professionals WA Emerging Leader of the Year in 2020.
In their citation, LG Professionals WA described Nicole as someone who engages the City of Kalamunda with its residents “through actions, policies, personal commitment and real passion. Her inspiring example of really living a passion for community engagement is more than worthy of the Emerging Leader of the Year Award.”
