However long you’ve worked in local government communication, inevitably you’ll be involved in conveying messages about your Council’s waste services.

When there are changes or updates to those services, your insights and skills can mean the difference between a smooth transition or a reputation disaster for your Council.

Join us for the next complimentary webinar of the Local Government Communication Professionals Network, when we’ll hear how Surf Coast Shire Council in Victoria got its community enthused about a new bin system, through great communication and the introduction of a new rubbish and recycling app.

Sabrina Lunn will take us through Surf Coast’s communication approach and how the app has been a game-changer for engagement with residents and holiday home owners in the Shire – as well as greatly helping Councillors communicate about the new system.

Even if waste messaging isn’t part of your current role, you’ll take plenty away in terms of how a focused, targeted communication approach can help your community adapt to change.

SABRINA LUNN – DIGITAL AND PROJECT COMMUNICATIONS, SURF COAST SHIRE COUNCIL

A self-proclaimed word nerd, Sabrina moved to Australia from the USA in 2007 and instantly purchased a copy of the Cambridge Guide to Australian English.

With almost 25 years in the non-profit and public sectors, Sabrina is a communicator, content creator, presenter, editor and photographer, but ultimately sees herself as a storyteller.

In 2016 Sabrina was hired as Surf Coast Shire Council’s first dedicated Digital Communications Officer following eight years in a similar role at the City of Melton.

Her role has expanded from just managing web and social media content to include project communications, staff training, video editing, and beyond. She even flies a drone when necessary.

All of these tasks require adaptability and creativity, traits Sabrina embraces as her secret weapon in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
